5 STARS

Over the last 20 years I have had somewhere close to 400 acupuncture treatments from many different acupuncturists. Only one or two times in those years, did I leave sessions feeling as good as I have in half of my appointments (10 total) so far.

The treatments have been very relaxing and they increase my energy and change my mental perspective for the better. I feel like I am floating during the treatment and it provides a heightened state of relaxation. On the more "concrete" side, issues like bicep tendinitis feel 90% better after the treatment.

Overall I recommend seeing Anna.

Previous Review

The "short" version of my review is this: over the last 20 years I have had somewhere close to 400 acupuncture treatments from many different acupuncturists. I've also been to 5 different community acupuncture businesses. Only one or two times in those years, did I leave a session feeling as good as I have in half of my appointments (10 total) with Anna so far. I joked with a friend that the needles must be soaked in happy juice. I think Anna is excellent. If your situation is chronic, then I will say that you likely have to do your part as well.

Now for the long version. What follows are my notes from my sessions.

Session 1. I hesitate to talk about this because I'm not sure what happened. I cried a lot. I did not want to leave the table. The treatment was more of a mental or emotional discharge of stuff and I am grateful for whatever it was. As poetic as it may sound, it felt like I was on Cloud 9. The time went by very fast. I dozed off a little. I walked out DANG happy and this was one crazy experience.

Session 2. I didn't feel great; felt like the flu was about to crush me; chills, headache, stomach queasy. The treatment lasted a long time - maybe 90 minutes. I dozed off. Unfortunately I didn't find Cloud 9 this trip. When I left, I felt about 50% better. The concrete data is that my headache is much less and I don't feel chilled (this is 90 minutes later). Lastly, I don't feel like I am spiraling downward toward a full blown cold or flu.

Session 3. Mostly I feel like the "flu" thing is still on my doorstep and I was tired. The treatment was about an hour by my request. I nodded out for awhile. I left feeling better. My mental state was more relaxed as you would expect. The "flu" thing feels completely gone.

Session 4. The flu-like symptoms (stomach, headache, chills) are gone; however, today I don't have much energy. I haven't slept well the last few nights. I tell Anna that I am wiped out, feel bloated after eating, and then I decide to throw in a very old baseball/racquetball injury - my right shoulder hurts. The needles go in and 90-minutes later...  I'm not tired at all. I feel dang happy again and I am very energized. I got into the car and raised my right hand over my head, elbow bent, and I pushed my elbow back a little to find the pain. It's not there. I don't want to jump to conclusions but I'm starting to think we better clone Anna.

Session 5. Today was my first reclining chair visit as opposed to a table. Overall my energy/mood are up a little, however I am coming to realization that I need to do my part. The treatment began but I was real antsy. I just have a tough time getting comfortable. Result: felt mellow on the way home which is good. Just before I left, Anna told me to work on balancing the Wood element. I had a reasonable idea of what that means - be extra nice to your liver.

I have notes from my first 10 sessions. The sessions definitely helped. I think if your situation is acute, Anna probably will help it quickly. In my opinion, chronic situations require personal effort and maybe lifestyle changes. I believe that the sessions will still help without changes, but not as much if there is also personal effort (i.e. Limit or eliminate junk food, exercise/move/breathe).

Bottom line is that I think Anna is very helpful and those little needles seem to be able to change how I feel mentally and physically.
